Our Impact
From Informal Production to Sustainable Enterprise
Through Amaze Africa’s existing artisan network, 55 Kenyan women currently contribute to the production of handcrafted goods. Many participate through informal savings and producer groups that have not yet gained the legal, financial, and operational advantages available to formally established cooperatives.
These women bring established skills, production knowledge, and community relationships to their work. However, limited access to suitable financing continues to restrict their ability to purchase materials, invest in equipment, fulfill larger orders, and build financially resilient enterprises.
Conventional microfinance products do not always reflect the realities of women-led artisan businesses. Restrictive lending terms, limited collateral, unsuitable repayment schedules, and the separation of financing from training and market access can prevent women from using credit effectively.
Our Partnership Goal
AfroKouture and Amaze Africa intend to help participating women move toward stronger, women-led enterprise structures, including formally registered SACCOs where appropriate.
The partnership’s proposed approach combines four connected elements:
-
Cooperative and enterprise development
-
Financial literacy and access to suitable financial services
-
Production, quality-control, and business training
-
Direct connections to verified commercial opportunities
This integrated approach is designed to address a central weakness in conventional empowerment programs: access to finance without production support or reliable market demand can increase debt without creating sustainable income.
What We Intend to Build
Our goal is to establish an artisan production system in which women can:
-
Participate in transparent and documented commercial relationships
-
Receive fair and timely compensation
-
Save collectively and access responsible financing
-
Invest in materials, equipment, and enterprise growth
-
Improve product quality and production consistency
-
Reach wider domestic and international markets
-
Exercise greater influence over business and household financial decisions
These are intended outcomes. The partnership is still developing and implementing the model. As the work progresses, AfroKouture and Amaze Africa will report verified results separately from projected impact.
Our Starting Point
55 women artisans currently participating through Amaze Africa’s production network
Informal savings and producer groups requiring stronger legal and financial structures
Limited access to financing suited to artisan production cycles
A proposed partnership connecting enterprise development with market access
Our purpose is not simply to increase production. It is to build the financial, operational, and commercial conditions that enable Kenyan women artisans to participate in sustainable enterprise on fairer terms.
